Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Assessments
Accessing mobility equipment doesn’t have to be overwhelming. ADP assessments connect you with government-funded supports that make equipment more affordable and help you stay mobile and independent.
Supporting Access to Funded Equipment
Ontario’s Assistive Devices Program (ADP) helps cover the cost of mobility equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, and specialized seating. An occupational therapy assessment ensures you meet eligibility requirements, are matched with the right equipment, and have the documentation needed to apply.
An ADP assessment may include:
Reviewing eligibility criteria and explaining funding options.
Assessing your mobility needs and daily routines.
Recommending suitable equipment models and features.
Coordinating with approved vendors for trials and quotes.
Completing and submitting all ADP application paperwork.
Why It Matters
Mobility equipment can be a significant financial investment. The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) helps reduce this burden by covering up to 75% of the cost for eligible equipment. For individuals receiving Ontario Works (OW) or the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), funding may cover 100% of the cost. With professional guidance, you can move forward confidently knowing your equipment is properly chosen, trialed, and supported every step of the way—from the initial visit and coordination with vendors for trials, to completion of ADP paperwork, delivery, and follow-up afterwards.
